What is the main difference between polyester and nylon carpet?
Polyester and nylon each offer strong benefits as carpet fibers, depending on your priorities.
- Polyester is naturally resistant to stains and easy to clean yourself, an important consideration for people with messy pets or kids.
- Nylon delivers superior durability, maintaining its shape and resisting matting and traffic patterns over time.
If you prioritize durability and long-term performance, nylon is the preferred option. If you are seeking easy maintenance and straightforward DIY cleaning, polyester offers an excellent choice.
Is all LVP (luxury vinyl plank) flooring the same quality?
No, not all LVP (luxury vinyl plank) flooring is the same quality. There’s quite a bit of variation among different LVP products based on how they’re constructed, their materials, and what they’re designed for.
- Wear-layer thickness: This is the protective top coating that resists scratches, stains, and wear. Higher-quality LVP generally has a thicker wear layer (often 12-20 mil+ for premium or commercial-grade). Thicker wear layers mean the floor will hold up better over time.
- Core material and construction: The “core” beneath the decorative surface matters. Some LVP planks have a simple vinyl core; better-quality ones use more stable, durable cores like wood polymer composite (WPC) or stone polymer composite (SPC). These cores resist warping, handle moisture better, and make the floor feel more solid underfoot.
- Look and feel: Premium LVP often has more realistic wood-grain textures, higher resolution designs, tight manufacturing tolerances (planks fitting together well), and better durability overall. Lower-cost LVP might look more “plastic,” have uneven coloring or grain patterns, or wear unevenly.

Do I have to move out during my flooring installation?
Nope! While some people prefer to vacate their home while renovating the flooring, it is not required. We strive to make the process as livable as possible, always providing walkways, a working toilet, and a space to live in.
Does Legend Flooring offer dustless tile removal?
Yes, less dust is a must! Dustless tile removal is a modern, cleaner, and much safer method of removing tile compared to traditional tear-outs. Instead of filling your home with thick, harmful dust, specialized equipment captures the dust at the source with HEPA-filtered vacuums and engineered tools.
Do I need a professional to measure my space?
Anyone can measure their own space to determine how much product is needed to cover the area. However, our trained professionals take into consideration many variables such as the width of the product, the direction it needs to run to achieve the best visual and wear pattern, how much extra is needed for cuts during installation, the supplies needed to complete the project, etc.
Legend Flooring offers FREE in-home estimates provided by a trained professional who will accurately measure your space.
What is the difference between LVP (luxury vinyl plank) and laminate flooring?
Both LVP and laminate offer excellent benefits, the right choice depends on your priorities and where the flooring will be installed.
- LVP flooring is fully waterproof, making it ideal for the entire home, including kitchens and bathrooms where spills and cleaning are common. It also provides a softer, quieter step.
- Laminate flooring delivers a more rigid, authentic hardwood feel with high-definition visuals and high scratch resistance. Keep in mind it is water-resistant rather than waterproof, making it better suited for dry spaces such as bedrooms and living areas.
If you want to install the flooring in wet areas, LVP is the preferred option. If you prioritize the toughest scratch resistance and don’t mind a louder step, you may prefer laminate. Both options can be excellent, our team will help you determine the best fit for your home.
